The rapid advance of technology, particularly in the field of information and communication has made Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) more and more important. Further, IPRs have become unavoidable in relation to human interactions and the relation between nations. IPRs are basically a very logical and simple concept. An achievement made by someone, which is useful of the community, receives an appropriate compensation.
Realizing the need for recognition of creative works of human intellect and the great importance of the protection of IPRs, the Government of Indonesia has taken a number of significant efforts in establishing and improving the IPRs system in the country, taking into account its international obligations as prescribed in the TRIPS Agreement. One of the significant efforts is by legislating the intellectual property laws and the subsequent government rules. |
